I'm Frank Melfa,  I started my pharmaceutical sales
career with Wyeth Pharmaceuticals in 1995 as territory rep in
Newark, NJ. After 3 successful years in the field, I was
promoted to Hospital Rep where I won the President's
Leadership Award. After 3 years of hospital selling, I was
promoted to District Manager in January of 2002. I was a
District Manager for Wyeth Pharmaceuticals in the New York
Metro Area for five years and in December of 2006 accepted
the national sales director position with Bradley
Pharmaceuticals. You won't find many websites or books
from district managers or national sales directors in this
industry. That's important because the pharmaceutical
industry is ever-changing and you need up-to-date advice
from the decision makers.

After interviewing hundreds of candidates, coaching
many salespeople, and writing articles for the Wyeth sales
newsletter, I decided to write my book,
Pharmaceutical
Landing. My goal with my book and website is to help
candidates land a pharmaceutical sales job and coach
current sales representatives to succeed in the job.

I graduated Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ in
1990. Rutgers at the time had the largest collegiate
bodybuilding contest in the country. Thousands of students
would attend to see the best bodies on campus.  I decided to
compete in the Mr. & Ms. Rutgers contest first in 1988 where
I won 2nd place in  middleweight class. In 1989, I won my
weight class and overall Mr. Rutgers. I also placed 2nd in the
NPC Mr. New Jersey Contest in 1990.

After I graduated, I gave up competing (mainly because
of a lack of social life and to start a career) I started working
as a personal trainer for Johnson & Johnson in New
Brunswick, NJ. I also wrote fitness articles for the Company
newsletter and then later wrote my first book,
Bodybuilding a
Realistic Approach,
one of the  most successful selling
bodybuilding books on Amazon.com.

While working for Wyeth, I completed my MBA in
Pharmaceutical & Chemical Studies from
Fairleigh
Dickinson University
where I also taught Pharmaceutical
Marketing to MBA students.
